Two-factor authentication is an optional, but recommended feature, which adds an extra layer of security and significantly enhances the security of your account. You might be familiar with two-step verification already i.e. from your online banking services where you are receiving an extra code in order to gain access.
Before enabling two-factor verification in your account settings, you will receive a special 16-digit backup code. It is very important that you write this emergency backup code down and store it somewhere extremely safe. If you ever lose your phone or device, or cannot receive a security code, you will need this backup code for emergency access.
How does two-factor authentication work?
First of all, you need to download the authentication app in the iTunes app store or Google Play app store. If you have enabled Two-factor authentication, to access your account you need your normal password and a one-time verification code generated in the app on your mobile device.
- Whenever you sign in to FortKnoxster you will enter your username and password as usual.
- Immediately after you will be asked for a one-time verification code that will be generated in the authentication app. The code changes every 30 seconds.
- If both codes are correct you will now have access to your FortKnoxster account.
To install the free authentication app on your mobile device, go to the app store on your mobile device and search for LastPass Authenticator.
